First, I had to build it
for my own business.
Before building software for other businesses, I spent years running my own local service company. Like many small-business owners, I was juggling customer inquiries, scheduling, quoting, payments, logistics, contractors, and the actual work itself.
I started solving those problems by building the Zach’s Transport & Assembly website and online workflow around the way the business actually operated. Instead of forcing the business into an off-the-shelf system, I built tools that made it easier for customers to request service and easier for me to manage the work behind it.
That experience eventually led to something much more ambitious: MOVE THAT COUCH!, a full marketplace platform for connecting customers with independent local service providers. What began as tools for one service business evolved into a web, iOS, and Android platform handling service requests, quoting, payments, messaging, provider matching, notifications, and more.
ZM Platforms grew out of that progression.
Today, I bring the same approach to other businesses: understand how the business actually works, identify what could work better, and build the website or software around that.
